Miller’s Law

Miller's Law is a principle in cognitive psychology that states that the average person can only hold 7 (plus or minus 2) items in their working memory at any given time. In other words, our capacity for processing information is limited and we can only handle a certain amount of information at once.

This law can be applied to a variety of design scenarios, such as website or app design, document layout, or presentation design. For example, when designing a presentation, it's important to keep in mind that people can only process a limited amount of information at a time. By breaking down complex information into smaller chunks, you can help ensure that your audience is able to understand and retain the information you are presenting.

Another practical example of Miller's Law in action is in the design of forms or surveys. By limiting the number of questions or fields on a form, you can make it easier for users to complete the form and reduce the likelihood of errors or user drop-off.

Overall, by keeping Miller's Law in mind, you can design interfaces and experiences that are more effective, user-friendly, and efficient, while helping to reduce cognitive overload for users.
